New Users

Are you new to Swarmforce? This section will answer many common questions new users have, such as account setup to joining your first swarm.

Answer: In a nutshell Swarmforce is a collaboration platform that links people together based on shared passion points. This network generates content based on its collective intelligence, which is then filtered with swarm algorithms to produce high quality content. Swarmers are rated by their activity and quality of contributions. The index by which we measure a swarmer's level of expertise in a swarm is called "SwarmKarma." For more information on what Swarmforce is, or is not, check out the about us section.
Answer: If you are not logged into your account, you should see a login box in top right part of your screen. Simply login with your preferred method and you should be good to go. Swarmforce current has two ways to login: Facebook and Twitter. If you don't have either of these accounts, you will need to create one in order to use Swarmforce.
Answer: Glad you asked. Plugging in to a new swarm is the first step. Mosey on over to your dashboard (top right hand navigation has a link), then click on the "Swarms" tab. Preferences

Preferences

Questions answered about user settings, and how to customize your profile.

Answer: Yes. Setting your profile to private only allows your friends to see your profile. The public will not see your profile; all though your name will be tagged next to your contributions on swarm projects. One word of warning: Setting your profile to private will lower your SwarmKarma. This is because private contributors to swarms are not as transparent as those willing to share their profile with everyone.
Answer: If you have designated a preferred name, that is the name used when displaying your name. If you prefer to display your first name, then remove your preferred name from your profile. You can go to your Dashboard > Profile and click "Edit" next to any setting you would like to change.
Answer: You most likely have it set in your preferences to receive HTML emails. Go to your dashboard, then click on the profile tab, then "basic." You should see an option there that says "send me HTML emails." Make sure that option is not selected. After updating your profile you should receive only plain text emails.

Content

Content

This section deals with questions regarding appropriate content for swarms and content ownership, such as copyright.

Answer: Generally speaking, swarms are self-governing and each swarm decides on the tone, appropriate language, etc. However, there is a list of UNAUTHORIZED CONTENT in our Terms of Use. The unauthorized content includes pornography, gambling, anything illegal, and promotion of hate related material. See the terms of use for the full list.
Answer: Its fun to add tweets to a swarm. Not only does it help your SwarmKarma, but it helps your fellow swarmers find the best information, faster. There are several ways to add tweets to a swarm. You can add them through our twitter tool, swattr. You can also use your favorite twitter client, whether it be an iPhone app or desktop client. Just add the hashtag "#" to your tweet, and our swarm bots will automatically add it to your swarm for you. So for the swarm "The Pixellator", I would add the hashtag "ThePixellator" or "thepixellator" and the swarm bots would pick it up.
Answer: Photos speak so much. And its important to include imagery with your swarm content. Its easy to contribute your flickr photos to your swarm! First, configure your flickr account in your dashboard. Then tag your photos in flickr with hashtags for any of your swarms. So for the swarm "The Pixellator", I would add the hashtag "ThePixellator" or "thepixellator" and the swarm bots would pick it up, and include that photo into the swarm. Awesome!
Answer: In simple terms, each swarm and it's members own the content created by the swarm, but Swarmforce manages copyright and royalties. Members of a swarm are constantly changing and growing. Due to this fact, Swarmforce is ultimately responsible for managing the content rights for orignial works, but Swarmforce is not responsible for inappropriate content posted or any content that infringes on the copyright of any third party. See our Terms of Use statement for more information.
Answer: Right now we our focused on web content. Down the road, who knows where swarming will go. The methods used by Swarmforce have great potential and are not narrowed down to any specific market or medium.

Swattr

Swattr is our homemade Twitter client. Currently, its the easiest way to interact with twitter data in your swarms.

Less noise. Better content.

Swarms

Swarms

Ok, real plain and simple, here is what a swarm is.

Answer: Swarms are the pivot point for everything about Swarmforce. A swarm is group of people that share a passion point. A swarm is what you join in order to collaborate on a project. Everything flows into and out of the swarms you are a member of.
Answer: A private swarm is just like a public swarm, except that members must be invited by an existing members. With public swarms, anybody on Swarmforce can join, but you have to invited to a private swarm. Private swarms also have management for contributors. Private swarms are a good fit for any organization trying to leverage social media to promote their brand.
Answer: Sometimes when starting a private swarm, its hard to get people to join. That's where contributors come in. You can designate contributors for your private swarm, and our swarm bots will curate their content, without them having to join Swarmforce. A contributor does not have to join a swarm in order for the swarm to leverage their content, to where a member's content is include in the swarm, but they have nominated to join the swarm.
Answer: Glad you asked. Plugging in to a new swarm is the first step. Mosey on over to your dashboard (top right hand navigation has a link), then click on the "Swarms" tab. You can browse the current swarms we have and see what interests you. Once you find a fit, join, and you can see what tweets and images are going on in that swarm.
Answer: SwarmKarma is the universal number by which swarmers are ranked. The higher the SwarmKarma the more qualified and proven the swarmer. You can do several things to get your SwarmKarma to go up: complete your profile, join swarms, get your friends to join swarms, contribute to products in swarms, as well as other things. Basically the more you contribute and participate, the higher your SwarmKarma is.
